“Wakefield College really appealed to me because there was a real close knit and friendly atmosphere about the place when I visited. I personally really enjoy the practical and recording side of the course as I’ve always loved playing on stage. It’s a great time to collaborate and work alongside other people as well as developing your own skills. The practical side is also a great way to get direct feedback from your tutors as all of them have experience in the field and can give pointers on how to improve and become a more well-rounded performer.

When I started the course, I was just a drummer and played bits of guitar but have since become a bassist and a vocalist for a band outside of College, all because of skills I’ve learnt through the Music Performance course. I’m going to progress onto a course here at the University Centre as, although I could apply for another larger university elsewhere, I realised I just really like it here. I’m a very ambitious person so I have quite a few dream careers paths. I’d love to be either a Guitar Technician, a Luthier or to play on stage. Maybe even all three if I can. Although I do already play on stage, I’d love to be able to tour the world doing this.”
