Course Overview
If you’ve got a passion for performance and want to broaden your skills, develop current musicianship and acting skills and career opportunities through practical learning, then the UAL Level 1 programme is right for you.
The Level 1 Diploma in Music, Performing and Production Arts has been designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to further study and training in a range of music performance and production disciplines.
The qualification is recognised as providing students with opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding they need to progress to further education and training within the music, production, and creative industries.
You will learn through classroom based and practical work. You will have the opportunity to work in our specialist studios and theatres.
What You Will Study

- How You Will Be Assessed
You’ll be assessed through performances, practical and theoretical based project work in the music industry/performing arts.
- Entry Requirements
3 GCSEs at Grade 9-1 including English and Maths.
However, you will be required to have a satisfactory interview/audition.
- Further Study
On completion with the appropriate pass and English and maths grades you can progress through the levels.
After Level 3 you could progress to one of the Higher education courses offered at the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group:
