“I chose to study Music Performance because it included learning programmes such as Logic and Cubase. There’s also the more practical side of the course such as playing gigs which was also something I was keen to do to help grow me as a musician. I really enjoy the performance side of the course as it’s taught me not only about stage presence and improving how I portray myself on stage, but also about the technical aspects that go into a live performance such as the lighting, venue choice and concert logistics. Since starting the course, my confidence has really grown through performing gigs on the course and I’m now comfortable doing open mic nights twice a month and can get up on stage without fear.
My plan after finishing this course is to progress to the HND in Music (Artist Development) here at the University Centre as I love studying here - the place and the people are amazing and it’s so comfortable. I’ve actually met my best friend and lots of other close mates here, so staying just feels so right. I also write my own music now and I want to be able to improve and put it out in the world and I think the skills on that course will help me to do that.”
