Course Overview

This course can either be studied at Wakefield College, Castleford College or Selby College.

The Level 3 programme is a T Level study programme; this is of two years duration. This two-year course has been developed in collaboration with leading employers and combines College-based studies with 315 hours industry placement.

We have worked in partnership with employers and other stakeholders to elaborate the content further, create the assessments and set the standards to ensure students achieve the level of competence needed to enter skilled employment.

You will spend 60% of your time in taught sessions, which will involve simulation of real working experiences along with formal teaching.

The remaining 40% of your time will be in your industry placement. Whilst here you will be able to put your new knowledge into practice, developing your skills over the 2 years in preparation for your final formal assessments.

What You Will Study

This is split into Core knowledge and Specialist knowledge. Core topics include managing personal information, health and wellbeing and providing person-centred care.

We run the Supporting Healthcare Core and offer the Supporting the Adult Nursing Team and Supporting the Care of Children and Young People Occupational Specialisms.

  • How You Will Be Assessed
    • Core Paper A – Health – End point assessment
    • Core Paper B – Science (including biology, chemistry and physics) – End point assessment
    • Employer Set Project – A series of assessments over a two-week window, under controlled conditions and assessed by the exam board

You will complete an employer-set project. This will ensure that you have the opportunity to apply core knowledge and skills to develop a substantial piece of work in response to an employer-set brief. The brief and tasks are contextualised around an occupational area relating to Health.

    Second year assessment:

Synoptic Assessment. You will complete an occupational specialism component which includes a case study assessment, two practical activities assessments: one for the core Supporting healthcare, and one for the occupational specialism and finally, a professional discussion.

On full completion you will receive a T Level statement of achievement detailing the individual grades for the different elements.
