"I completed Level 2 and 3 in Public Services at Selby College with the goal of pursuing a career in the police force. I was extremely quiet when I started at the College but now my confidence has grown so much, even winning the Public Services Personality of the Year award.
I chose to study my Level 4 at the College’s University Centre because I knew I’d get more one-to-one support than traditional universities. The criminology side of the course, especially learning about why people commit crimes, has been fascinating and will be really helpful in my future role.
Highlights of my time include the team-building communication exercises and trips to Leeds Crown Court and Bewerley Park Outdoor Centre, where I took part in outdoor activities. After College, I plan to apply to the police force, with my ultimate dream being a police officer. The politics and government modules have given me a broader perspective, which will be valuable in that journey."
