Course Overview
The Certificate in Dental Radiography is a qualification for dental nurses, therapists and hygienists who are required to x-ray patients under the prescription of a dentist. The Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2018 (IR(ME)R 2018) require all operators who are involved in x-raying patients to be adequately trained to ensure the radiographs produced are of optimum diagnostic quality and expose both patients and staff to the minimum possible radiation dose.
An essential programme for dental nurses, therapists or hygienists commonly delegated responsibility for radiography, this course provides training at the highest possible level and is available only through approved centres.
You will receive theoretical training by attendance at taught sessions delivered via MS Teams and you will be required to complete a four-part record of experience. Lectures, assignments and practical simulations are an integral part of this course.
You will also be required to complete a record of practical competencies set out by NEBDN over a 12-week period of time.
