What You Will Study

The finalised module list is to be confirmed however it will include graded units on the following topics:

  • The English Legal system
  • Murder and Manslaughter Law
  • Tort Law
  • Criminology: Offender Profiling
  • Sociology: Crime and Deviance
  • Attendance Expectations

    The course requires you to attend College for 12 hours a week, usually over three days.

  • How You Will Be Assessed

    The course involves a variety of assessment techniques including project work, essays, oral presentations and time constrained assessments.

  • Entry Requirements

    You must have GCSE at Grade 9-4 in English Language so you can enrol on the course starting in September.

    It is also advisable to complete Maths GCSE during the academic year prior to entering university if you don't already have it.

  • Further Study

    This course will allow you to progress on to degree courses in either Law or Law & Criminology but there are also degree courses in Psychology & Criminology and Sociology & Criminology which you could apply for at local universities.

    The offers made to you will be dependent on the grades you achieve but you will be guaranteed a place on the Public Services Management degree programme at Wakefield College if you successfully pass the Access to HE Diploma course.
