Course Overview

A unique suite of qualifications promoting the creative use of digital applications through an approach which will inspire and challenge you to demonstrate what you know and what you can do in real-life situations.These are modern qualifications which will equip you with the skills you need to live, learn and earn in the 21st century. We will develop your skills to enable you to progress to further study and ultimately to employment.

You will learn through the use of a variety of software packages.

What You Will Study

This qualification will maximise opportunities for learners to make progress by focusing on the development of IT sector related skills and essential transferable skills. The qualifications will develop your ability to organise yourself and encourage your development towards employment or further study within the college.

There are seven units to cover in the Level 1 Computing & Digital Design:-

  • Introduction to material, processes & key skills in IT
  • Introduction to contextual research in IT
  • Introduction to communication using IT
  • Solving 2D creative problems using IT
  • Solving 3D creative problems using IT
  • Solving time-based problems using IT
  • Final Major Assessment Project
  • How You Will Be Assessed

    Assessment is by submission of paper-based assignments for each unit, using a variety of assessment methods.

  • Entry Requirements

    3 GCSEs Grade 9-4, including English and Maths.

    AND

    A genuine interest in the subject/profession.

    AND

    A good reference from Head of Year 10 or Headteacher.

  • Further Study

    BTEC Level 2 Diploma in ICT or other Level 2 programmes.
