Course Overview

Enhance your English skills with our friendly yet focused part-time classes, designed to help you gain a GCSE English qualification—a key requirement for Higher Education and many employers.
This course will develop your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, providing you with the confidence and ability to succeed in further education or the workplace.
You will learn in engaging, structured lessons that follow the GCSE linear specification, working both independently and as part of a group. Lessons will incorporate a variety of group, paired, and individual activities, supported by structured lesson plans and PowerPoint resources to aid your learning.

What You Will Study

Part-Time GCSE English
1. Develop both written and oral communication skills
2. Learn to interpret and analyse texts
3. Enhance your creative and formal writing abilities
4. Study a range of non-literary texts
5. Improve spelling, punctuation, and grammar in line with the latest specification
  • Attendance Expectations

    3-3.5hrs one day/evening per week.

  • How You Will Be Assessed

    1. Two end-of-year exams (1 hour 45 minutes each), weighted 50% each
    2. Mock exams and formative assessments throughout the year to track progress

  • Entry Requirements

    Whilst no formal qualifications are required to enrol on this course, before you start you will take part in a one-to-one interview and a skills assessment to determine suitability. This will help us understand your current level and ensure you are placed on the most appropriate qualification to support your learning and progression.
