What You Will Study
The technical qualification comprises of two components, both requiring successful completion. The core component aims to provide a broad understanding of the industry and associated job roles, equipping learners with essential skills applicable in various contexts. This includes externally assessed core knowledge tests and an employer-set project. You will learn topics such as maths, science, electronic principles, mechanical principles, business awareness, project management and engineering drawing.
The occupational specialism component helps learners gain the essential knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to reach a basic level of competency in fitting and assembly technologies. This means they're prepared to enter the occupation and industry. With ongoing support and training, they can further develop their skills to become competent in their chosen field over time.
- How You Will Be Assessed
This course is internally and externally assessed through exams and practical assessments.
- Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and two Sciences and a minimum of Grade 5 in Maths.
OR
Level 2 English and Maths and an appropriate Level 2 qualification will be considered.
- Further Study
BTEC Higher National Certificate in Engineering or an Engineering degree course.
