“I chose to do a T Level in Engineering & Manufacturing because it gives me work experience as well as theory, which will help further me in my career.
I enjoy my industry placement at Drax Power Station in Selby the most and doing hands-on learning in the workshop. I can also apply the theory I’m learning in the classroom whilst in the workshop both at Drax and in the College.
I've got an overarching project where I'm looking at small efficiency gains that I can make at the power station. I've been going around each of the teams learning about the power station and how efficiency could be improved, such as the mills or the generators.
Both Drax and at the College have been very helpful and supportive. They are willing to send me any details I need or help me with any questions I might have, especially my tutors at the College and team leaders at Drax.
Once I’ve completed my T Level, I want to do an apprenticeship so I can keep going forward with the same level of education, as well as getting hands-on work experience. A T Level is ideal for someone who wants to do a Level 3 course with hands-on practical knowledge because it gives you experience in the workplace.
Overall, it's a great course and I enjoy all of it.”
