Course Overview

In this foundational course, you'll embark on a journey through various engineering and manufacturing disciplines, laying the groundwork for your future in the field. Through hands-on experience, you'll hone your abilities in cutting, forming, and assembling engineering materials. Additionally, you'll be introduced to the fundamental principles of mathematics and science that underpin engineering studies, providing you with a solid foundation for progress in this discipline.

What You Will Study

This introductory-level course offers an experience of various engineering and manufacturing disciplines. Throughout the programme, you will cultivate essential skills in cutting, forming and assembling engineering materials. The course will also develop essential Maths and Science knowledge.

  • How You Will Be Assessed

    In this course, you'll be assessed in various ways: through practical tasks, written assignments, and in-class exams. The practical assessments gauge your ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-life situations, while the written assignments test your understanding and communication skills. In-class exams assess your grasp of important topics and your critical thinking abilities in timed conditions. This diverse assessment strategy provides a thorough evaluation of your progress and skills across the course content.

  • Entry Requirements

    4 GCSEs at Grade 9-2, including English and Maths.

    Ideally, these additional GCSEs should include a Science or Technology course.

    This requirement ensures that students have a foundational understanding of key subjects relevant to the course curriculum.
