Teaching staff from Wakefield College were celebrating their success recently after the latest cohort completed the Programme of Excellence scheme.
The Programme of Excellence is a tailored teacher development programme that aims to welcome and effectively support teachers who are new to the College. The programme was introduced to support staff in developing and demonstrating the skills and expertise needed to succeed in the classroom.
The programme is run by the College’s High Performance Team and aims to inspire excellence in all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment. Each tutor is mentored by a staff member from the High Performance Team and is also assigned a ‘buddy’ who they share best practice with and help through the entire programme.
Matthew Staples, Head of High Performance at Wakefield College. said: “It was great to see so many staff successfully complete the Programme of Excellence scheme. The programme is challenging but rewarding at the same time and ultimately helps our students who can benefit from the expertise of our tutors.
“The graduation event was also an opportunity to thank all the new staff for their hard work in securing high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across the College. The involvement of all members of staff is pivotal to student success - to really transform lives through learning. Committed and diligent teachers are the backbone of what we do at the College and their efforts are very much appreciated.”
