“I came to Wakefield College straight from school. I always liked motorcycles, I was brought up around mechanics, my dad was a mas technician for SEAT. Just before I started college he passed away from cancer. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do; I was going to go in the navy for my dad. My mum put me in a race team for the TT Isle of Man road racing, just for the senior day to see what it was like and it went from there. I’d always worked on motorcycles with my dad, so the mechanics skills were always there. I worked with the race team for 2 years. I came to Wakefield College during the first year of working with them to do my Level 2 Certificate in Motorcycle Maintenance. I loved it, loved every second of it so I came back to do my Level 2 Diploma leading to Level 3 Diploma.”

“This year I started with Honda Racing Corporation based in Louth, working part time in the super stop team as a chassis technician, working on chassis parts and data, travelling up and down the country to different circuits. When I finish my Level 3 this year, I will be working for Honda full time but will hopefully come back and do the MOT qualification at some point. I’ve enjoyed being at Wakefield College, you couldn’t ask for a better tutor, I’ve really enjoyed the experience, I’m doing something I enjoy, I enjoy being here, that’s the main thing, and I enjoy my mates, I’ve met some good mates here.”
