Course Overview
This Acting programme, at Mechanics Performing Arts is for students who wish to study in a lively and challenging environment. As Acting students, you will have the opportunity to explore, develop and test your creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating, demanding and provides a supportive transition into higher level study or employment in the performing arts industry. There will be a wide range of opportunities for you to perform in our professional theatre, alongside chances to attend professional performances in both regional and national venues. You will be taught by industry experienced tutors alongside visiting professionals working within the industry.
You will learn through classroom based and practical work. You will have the opportunity to work in our specialist studios and theatres.
Music performance student will learn by experimenting as an individual but also by collaborating on a variety of projects with other music students.
There will be hands on experience of music technology software and hardware.
What You Will Study
Level 1 (Music, Performance & Production Arts)
- Attendance Expectations
You will be expected to attend all classes as specified on your timetable and all personal tutorial sessions.
ECT students will attend College for three days each week and the home school will be responsible for organising any additional study.
- How You Will Be Assessed
You’ll be assessed through performances, practical and theoretical based project work in the music industry/performing arts.
- Entry Requirements
3 GCSEs predicted at Grade 9-3 in 3 subjects.
AND
A genuine interest and passion for the subject/profession.
AND
A good reference from Head of Year 10 or Headteacher. - Further Study
If you complete the course with an appropriate pass grade with maths and English you can progress through the levels.
HND Performing Arts (Performance) Theatre, offered by Wakefield College, or degrees in acting, drama, theatre arts or performing arts at other Universities. Vocational courses at drama schools.
