Join our friendly and supportive Part-Time Functional Skills and GCSE Maths classes, designed to help you build essential mathematical skills and achieve a valuable qualification that will benefit your career and further studies.
GCSE Maths is a requirement for many Higher Education courses and
employers. If you want to improve your knowledge of number, algebra,
probability, geometry, and statistics, this course will support you in achieving
this vital qualification.
You will study in a focused but welcoming environment, with expert lecturers guiding you through group and individual activities to develop your confidence and skills. A recommended textbook will support your learning, and you will be expected to attend weekly classes and complete regular homework assignments.
What You Will Study
Part-Time GCSE Maths:
1. Topics include Number, Algebra, Ratio, Geometry, Probability, and Statistics.
2. The curriculum focuses on
real-world applications and problem-solving.
Part-Time Functional Skills Maths:
1. Entry Level: Topics may include numbers, fractions, money,
decimals, time, shape, and data handling.
2. Levels 1 & 2: Covers all aspects of numeracy, including problem-solving, interpreting information, and calculating measurements.

3-3.5hrs one day/evening per week - various classes available.
- How You Will Be Assessed
GCSE Maths:
1. Three exams at the end of the year
Paper 1: Non-calculator (1 hour 30 minutes)
Paper 2 & Paper 3: Calculator papers (1 hour 30 minutes each)
2. No coursework, assessment is entirely exam-basedFunctional Skills Maths:
1. Regular progress reviews and feedback
2. Final assessment:
Level 1 & 2: Externally marked exam
Entry Level: Internally marked exam - Entry Requirements
Whilst no formal qualifications are required to enrol on this course, before you start you will take part in a one-to-one interview and a skills assessment. This will help us understand your current level and ensure you are placed on the most appropriate qualification to support your learning and progression.
