Course Overview
Students on this programme will study towards an Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care. The course is equivalent to 3 A Levels over two years. This course would be suitable for anyone interested in studying in health or social care subjects at university or a higher level. Students will learn in a variety of different ways, with a combination of classroom and practical learning. Enjoy a blend of classroom and practical learning, with guest speakers, trips, and visits from industry experts to boost your knowledge and skills.What You Will Study
This qualification is an in-depth study of the health and social care sector. It supports progression to health and social care related degrees.
The course has 8 mandatory units:
- Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care
- Human Lifespan Development
- Working in Health and Social Care
- Meeting Individual Care And Support Needs
- Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care
- Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care
- Promoting Public Health
- Work Experience in Health and Social Care
There are also 5 optional units to be completed throughout the course.
- How You Will Be Assessed
Students must complete at least 100 hours of work experience. Some units are assessed internally, while others have externally marked exams.

5 GCSE’s Grade 9-4 including English, Maths and Science.

This qualification supports progression to Health and Social Care related degrees.
