What You Will Study
Year 1 involves an introduction to key business areas: Marketing, Operations, Finance and Human Resource Management. This includes a special focus on decision-making – particularly how decisions made in one area can affect the rest of the business.
Year 2 looks at the bigger picture including: strategic issues, change management and the external environment.
Assessment consists of three exams. They feature a range of question styles including multiple choice, short answer questions, essay questions, data response questions and case studies.
- How You Will Be Assessed
Assessment is by external examination. To achieve the full A Level in Business you will need to complete three externally assessed exams at the end of the second year. Progression is carefully monitored through combined student/teacher assessment, homework assignments and examination practice.
The course is 100% exam-based and lasts for two years. The course is split into four units. There are three exams for the full A-level, comprising of 35% for Paper 1 and 2, with 30% on the final paper which will be based on all knowledge throughout the course around a pre-released theme.
- Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4, including English Language.
PLUS
Grade 5 in Maths.
- Further Study
The majority of students progress to university degrees in a wide range of subjects such as Business Studies, Business Management, or a combined degree with Marketing or Economics.
