Course Overview
The Access to HE Engineering allows students to develop their skills in preparation for progression to university, students who successfully complete this course progress to study:
- Applied Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
This is a fully online course, where you can access the course materials and assessments 24 hours a day. You will be fully supported throughout your course with online 1:1 tutorials and group tutorials.
What You Will Study
Throughout this course you will study a range of different subject areas including, Engineering, Chemistry and maths. Some of the units that you will study are:
- Principles of Mechanical Engineering
- Mathematical Principles Applied to Engineering
- Energy and Motion in Mechanical Science
- Hydrocarbons, Alkenes and Alkanes
- Algebraic and Trigonometric Techniques in Engineering
- Attendance Expectations
There is no on-site attendance required, though students are expected to undertake 10-15 hours study per week.
- How You Will Be Assessed
You will be assessed through different methods, including written assignments, presentations and timed controlled assessments.

GCSE Grade 9-4 in English and Maths
OR
Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths
- Fee Information
£3,928
Students who were under 24 as at the 31st August who do not already hold a Level 3 qualification (eg. A levels or Level 3 BTec) may not have to pay fees, this is dependent on your postcode.
All other students can apply for the Advanced Learner Loan to cover the fees. This is a type of student loan, but if you progress to university and complete your degree, the loan will be cancelled and consequently your Access course will be free. Access to HE courses are designed to enable you upon successfully completion to progress to Higher Education.
