Course Overview
This course is for people who work with young children in an Early Years settings. This maybe in a nursery, or school Foundation Unit, or as a Childminder for example.
Your course is organised on an individual basis. You will plan your work with your assessor who will support you to achieve. You will be set regular deadlines and will receive feedback and support on a regular basis.
What You Will Study
- Exploring roles and development opportunities in early years settings
- Child development from birth to 7 years
- Safeguarding babies and young children in early years settings
- Supporting health and safety in early years settings
- Promoting wellbeing in early years settings
- Supporting effective communication in early years settings
- Supporting activities, purposeful play and educational programmes
- Understand how to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities
- Working with parents, colleagues and other professionals in early years settings
At the end of your course you will be required to carry out End Point Assessment.
- Attendance Expectations
You will work with your assessor 1:1, meeting regularly every five weeks. You will be expected to complete your qualification with the 12 months timeframe. You will have progress reviews with your assessor and employer every 10 weeks.
- How You Will Be Assessed
Your assessor will set you deadlines for your written tasks which are then assessed through an electronic portfolio. There are also assessments of your performance in your workplace.
You are expected to meet at regular intervals with your assessor.
- Entry Requirements
No set entry requirements.
You may be asked to complete Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 2, if you do not hold GCSE Grade 4, as English and Maths qualifications form a mandatory part of all apprenticeships and must be completed before an apprentice can pass through gateway.
