An Engineering lab

Course Overview

This course can either be studied at Castleford College or Selby College.

You'll acquire the hands-on expertise necessary for securing an apprenticeship in engineering and manufacturing or to study at the next level. This includes mastering tasks like cutting, forming, machining, and assembling engineering materials, as well as constructing electronic circuits. You'll gain proficiency in creating engineering drawings using design techniques such as CAD. Additionally, you'll develop skills in working efficiently, effectively, and adhering to all health and safety regulations while operating within engineering and manufacturing settings.

Our College is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including industry-standard workshops furnished with the latest equipment.

This course is tailored to expand your understanding of the diverse array of engineering careers while providing foundational experience to bolster a successful apprenticeship application or to move on to further study.

Through this study programme, you'll have opportunities to interact with local employers via various activities such as industrial visits, guest speaker sessions, and mock interviews.

What You Will Study

  • How You Will Be Assessed

    Assessment in this programme comprises a blend of practical evaluations, written assessments, and in-class exams.

  • Entry Requirements

    GCSE Grade 9-3, including English and Maths.

    2 Additional GCSEs Grade 9-3, preferably in a science or technology subject.

  • Further Study

    There are pathways available: a Level 3 in Engineering and Manufacturing, Engineering Apprenticeships and T Level.
