What You Will Study
The core component focuses on knowledge and understanding around:

- Principles of sustainability and design, relevant to construction projects.
- Information, data and principles of measurements.
- Tools, equipment and materials used in BSE work.
- Legislation, regulations and approved standards that apply to BSE systems.
Within this specialism you will develop an understanding, skills and knowledge around:
- Fundamental health and safety practices associated with carrying out plumbing work
- Plumbing and heating engineering tools and equipment
- Pipework materials, installation methods and jointing processes
- Plumbing systems and their purpose
- Plumbing science
- Principles of measurement and marking out components and pipework
- Heating systems
- Heating engineering science
- Regulations, legislation, and industry guidance used in the heating industry
On successful completion you will be able to:

- How You Will Be Assessed
The core component will be assessed by two externally set exams covering knowledge from the building services engineering common core components with an employer set project.
The occupational specialism is assessed you will complete an occupational specific assignment that will incorporate both knowledge and practical skills for the specialism.
- Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at Grade 9-5, including English, Maths and Science.
- Further Study
This qualification focuses on the development of knowledge and skills needed for working in the building services engineering industry, which will prepare you to enter the industry through employment or as an apprentice.
In addition, the completion of this qualification gives you the opportunity to progress onto Higher Education courses and training.
