Course Overview
This first-of-its-kind short-course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge, skills behaviours, and attitudes to work as general site operatives within the construction sector. The expectation of the programme is that it will support progression into employment.

What You Will Study
Delivered within Castleford College’s purpose-built Brick Workshop, learners will have the opportunity to be in an environment that simulates the conditions of a construction site. Theory will be introduced in the classroom environment and will be embedded throughout practical activities. The course will be delivered over four weeks.

- Attendance Expectations
Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm for three weeks. One day on 4th week.
- How You Will Be Assessed
Practical tasks and theory tests.

- Work or live in Wakefield district (please check with us if you are unsure)
- Fee Information
Free for learners who self-refer.
Employers who refer staff will have to pay a contribution - £450pp if you are an SME (fewer than 250 employees) and £1350pp for large businesses (250+ employees).
- Further Study
Job seekers completing the course are guaranteed a job interview with a construction employer who are looking to hire new Site Operatives. Employed participants will gain new skills and knowledge which will help them to progress their career.
All participants could move into a trade apprenticeship.
