"I’m doing a HTQ Construction Management course at Castleford College whilst I also work as a Site Manager at Firecrest Construction.
The HTQ has suited my learning style and benefited me as it’s hands-on learning. I would recommend a HTQ because it’s a technical course, it gives you an overall idea of what goes into projects. The course has helped me progress through my career and I’m sure it will with many others. It has been designed to meet what employers want so by having this qualification, it sets me apart from everyone else. I have a background in construction, so already possess the knowledge when it comes to building but now, I’ve got more knowledge in the technical side such as learning about tenders and producing my own drawings.
My job is really rewarding – I see the job from the start when there’s nothing there and then I see it progress all the way through until we have got a finished product. Seeing it in its final stage is rewarding, knowing that you’ve built something good for someone is a nice feeling to have.
I’m a Site Manager at the minute but I aspire to be a Contracts Manager or a Project Manager. Realistically, in the construction industry, the progression is endless."
