What You Will Study

Examples of some of the units/modules you may study are:

  • Primary and Secondary Research 
  • Basic Garment Construction
  • Draping and Constructing on the Stand
  • Printed and Constructed Textiles
  • Hand and Machine Embroidery
  • Surface Pattern
  • Exploratory Samples
  • Creative Drawing and Design Work
  • How You Will Be Assessed

    You will be continually assessed by your tutors throughout the academic year, an external moderator will verify and confirm your final grades.

    Year 1 – You will complete A1 – skills development and A2 Creative Project, this will be internally assessed and graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction.

    Year 2 – You will complete B1– Personal Progression and B2 Creative Industry Response. Graded at a Pass, merit or Distinction.

    The combination of grades from both years will determine the overall grade for the course.

  • Entry Requirements

    4 GCSEs at Grade 9-4, including English or Maths.
    OR
    4 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 and Level 2 in either English or Maths.
    OR
    GCSE English or Maths at Grade 4 or Level 2 English or Maths and successful completion of Level 2 or equivalent at Merit grade.

    PLUS a portfolio of work.

  • Further Study

    On completion with the appropriate pass and English and Maths grades you can progress through the levels. 

    This study programme offers progression to a variety of art-related courses. 

    Our own Foundation Diploma in Art & Design is a recommended progression route as is progression onto our HNC/HND Art and Design (Fine Art) During the course we will explain all the possible options and support you through the application process.
