Course Overview

This course provides an introduction to the types of medicine that you are likely to come across in your work environment. It introduces some of the legislation about medication and sources of information and guidance. The workbook also covers the procedures of prescribing and dispensing medicine, an understanding of the requirements for safe handling, storage and disposal of medicines and the roles and responsibilities of staff in relation to these procedures.

The prerequisite for this course is only suitable for those working with vulnerable adults, not suitable for childcare.

What You Will Study

*As this is a knowledge based qualification, achievement will not allow learners to be considered to be occupationally competent to administer medicines.
